“Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process.” This thought led us to pursue MKSSS’s mission of “Women Empowerment” through women education. The Institution “Maharshi Karve Stree-Shikshan Samstha” was founded by Dr. D. K. Karve in 1896. We believe in the development of women that will provide them ground to become self reliant. With this aim MKSSS started diversified branches all over Maharashtra in India. At present around 25,000 girl students are learning in these institutes which comprise Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, and Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary schools and Colleges. We have established Engineering, Architecture, Management, Nursing, Fashion Technology, Vocational Training Institute, Health Center etc. We also have hostel facilities for students and working women and old age home for senior citizens. We strive to develop women into truly performing citizens in today’s globalization era.
We are thankful to Cummins India foundation for lending their helping hand towards us. The association between MKSSS and CIF dates back to 1991, when with a generous contribution from CIF, a trust founded by the Cummins Group in India, the first women’s engineering college opened its doors to female students in Pune city. Relations between Cummins and M.K.S.S.S. have always been those of partners in progress and not those of donor and donee. Cummins has elevated status of Pune College to their Signature level project. This association has further strengthened with the assistance from Cummins towards a new set up for Mechanical Engineering division, in line with AICTE requirements. Other than the financial assistance, Cummins employee’s partner, engage in activities like industry visit, reviewing syllabus, guest lecturers etc. Over the last 10 years, the college has established itself as one of the finest colleges offering Engineering degrees to women in India.
Having done so, MKSSS and CIF have collaborated once again to establish the second unit of the Cummins College of Engineering for Women in Nagpur in 2010. CIF has also committed to support CCEW’s branch in Nagpur which would offer engineering degree in Mechanical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer & Information Technology streams. Cummins are very keen on increasing number of women professionals at all levels in their organization and they are looking forward to students graduating from Nagpur for achieving this goal. The institute is committed to grooming future of women in engineering. We humbly request you to explore the options with this institute with best wishes for your bright future career.
